ALL MOUNTAIN - DIRECTIONAL

~Travis Rice

Flex

How easily does this snowboard bend under pressure? A soft flex is great for fun maneuverability while a stiff flex is better for aggressive high speed hill bombing.

Glorified Pow board

This is a pow board that has been marketed to be an all mountain slasher which its not. Good board in knee deep Japow. Easy to make quick turns in deep tree runs & has very good float. Board comes with a 0 degree base bevel which makes it very grabby, add that with the magnatraction & it makes the board very unpredictable in variable conditions. Base is fast but the board doesn't absorb rough terrain well so it feels like a nervous ride. Carving is ok, but there are so many better all mountain boards in the market for this. So for me this is just my pow baord & not my daily driver.

Deceptively good at all-mountain

6'0" 145LBS Size 12, 153 Orca. I'm an intermediate boarder, and I picked up a 23-24 Orca used a few months ago. I got a few early season days in the Ice Coast, and it's about what you'd expect. Mag helps, but on some steeps, you're better off straightlining. If you've been there, you know what I mean. I've gotten a few days in early season Vail in a variety of conditions, and I get why Travis Rice calls this his favorite crappy-resort-day board. On groomed runs, you can put this thing on edge and it rips. In pow, it floats like a dream. In the sun-baked runs or with variable snow, it sometimes feels a little uneasy. The nose occasionally gets chattery, but shifting weight forward or leaning in a little harder calms it right down. Coming from a variety of true-twin and directional twin boards with zero fish experience, I see the magic behind this board. It's definitely not a quiver killer, and I want a camber board to balance this one out, but I'm very happy with my purchase. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a volume shift board that sees primarily fresh snow and any other conditions.

Amazing board, great customer service

I’m a huge fan of the Orca. I had a 2022 model and I’m a hard, aggressive rider. Needless to say, beat up the 22’ and it had some issues faster than I had hoped. Reached out to Lib and they made it right with a discount on the 2025. Haven’t ridden it yet, but it seems a bit more stable and the artwork is next level. Can wait to get deep in the trees on this bad boy!

Believe the Hype!

I got this deck because of a board failure and store credit. I’ve been a long LibTech fan and I decided since I had the funds I’d buy an Orca. I always saw it as utterly overhyped and no way could it live up to reputation it had. Seeing how setback it was and using C2x I was even more skeptical as an East Coast rider. But today I was blown away! At my home mountain the temp was 32 degrees, three inches of fresh but heavy snow had just been dumped, and rain was threatening too. Still I took this deck out to give it a ride on the icy wet East and see how much of mistake I made. I had another deck in the truck so I wasn’t worried too much. Well this deck made me forget about the backup one I had in the truck fast! It destroyed the first run with ease. It’s a 156 and it ran with the stability of 165! Next was how easy it was to carve, it’s like this deck hates simple skidded turns and wants to charge only. C2x has long been a problem for me in firm conditions but I hardly even noticed it even when the snow began to firm up! All in all this IS a powder deck that can do a whole lot more! I’ve rode the Burton Fish and the similarities are there. The set back, long nose, short tail, taper. But the Orca eats that fish with a smile. Burton’s Fish was horrible outside of powder but the Orca adapts and destroys. If you’re looking for a deck for pow and whole lot more get this and believe the hype too. I do now!

Pretty good…

I had one for a season a few years back. It went good in powder. Not so great on everything else. If Lib released a C3 camber version I would highly consider purchasing it.
