Die Kunst des Shapens hat er unter den Fittichen seines Vaters und ein paar der besten Boardshapern unserer Zeit gelernt. Die letzte Dekade seines Lebens hat Alex ganz dem Shaperoom gewidmet, wo er seine Skills mit jedem Board und der Unterstützung seiner Test Pilotin / Partnerin Leah Dawson sowie einer Crew talentierter Free-Surfer immer weiter perfektioniert hat.
