I’ve been riding The Apes for over a decade and multiple models. At 6’2” and 220lbs the 165W has become my quiver killer for the last 2yrs. This board STOMPS EVERYTHING. Competition included. Got the 161w, and it’s my new quiver killer! It’s wide enough for my size 12 feet, and it’s ride is super responsive but not too much. It’s a blast to ride!
Years of stuffing my size 14+ foot into smaller boots just to avoid that toe scrape and heel drag and skip almost mad me want to become a skier. God forbid. But alas Lib Tech saved me. I instantly upped my game. Deep carving turns at mach speeds without the fear that my rail was going to slip sending me into a line of five-year-olds with their mountain guide. And now I stick on the extreme steep stuff like a mountain goat without the fear of freefalling when my boot kicks my rail off the hard pack. Now I have a quiver of 170UW Skunk Apes. Three of them and they are all my favorite. But what I really need is the new one.
This is a truly great board. I grew up surfing and this board acts the way I always hoped a board would act. Carves like a champ, stable, stiff, and fast. Plow through crap like a hot knife through butter. I’m 6 ft, size 12 feet, and 200lbs without gear. I got the 161 and it is perfect
Bought the 170UW after riding a 166cm burton custom for years, and it does not disappoint! It is so nice to be able to really lean into a turn without fear of hitting my toes cause of the overhang. I’m not particularly tall ( 6 “1”) or heavy ( 200Lbs) but with size 13 boots I thought I would still give this board a shot. Despite me not being that that big, the board is still very responsive! Thanks Libtech, you found yourself a customer for life!
